We designed an apartment building for accommodation with parking on a plot located on the outskirts of the village Svoboda nad Úpou. The plot is situated in a quiet part of the village, surrounded by a combination of detached family houses, residential buildings, and a Care House. The eastern side of the plot is accessible via a road. The western boundary of the plot transitions into a wooded slope, which provides privacy and enhances the connection of the building with nature.
The building itself is divided into two main volumes. Two rectangular-shaped masses with gable roofs are connected by a narrow section with a lightweight envelope. This design approach gives the building a less massive appearance and allows it to blend more harmoniously with the surrounding context of the buildings.
It is a three-story timber construction with a partially habitable attic. Each floor comprises six individual apartments. Each apartment has its own parking space in the parking area on the eastern side of the plot.
The ground floor accommodates a technical room. Each apartment has a balcony accessible from the living room and bedroom. The ground floor apartments have their own front gardens accessible through the balcony.
The apartments on the third floor are expanded with an attic extension and an additional terrace.
The facades of the buildings combine horizontal and vertical wooden cladding with accentuated cornices on each floor. The roof is made of metal with a subtle wavy profile in a light color.
