A family house on a sloping terrain – space for creativity
The family house is situated at the upper part of a sloping plot of land with abundant vegetation, aiming to maximize the views of the surrounding landscape and orient the living areas towards the southwest.
The central theme of the building is its integration with the natural terrain and surroundings, emphasizing the desired intimacy for the inhabitants. Therefore, the house is designed as a single-story structure nestled into the sloping terrain, featuring a walkable green roof.
High ceilings and French windows for maximum natural light
The layout consists of three zones. Behind the entrance to the house, there is a children’s room, technical facilities, and a children’s bathroom. The living room is centrally located, and its importance is highlighted by high ceilings and a lowered floor level. Natural light is brought into the rear part of the living room through an atrium. The last part of the layout comprises the parental zone, including a bedroom, a bathroom, and a wardrobe. French windows in all the living spaces are oriented towards the view, providing access to three terraces and the garden. Emphasis was also placed on maximizing the integration of the exterior and interior spaces.
Walkable green roof in line with sustainable architecture
The exterior of the house consists of three corten steel boxes embedded into a concrete wall. These boxes also serve as protection against overheating, given the house’s large glazed areas set in anthracite aluminum frames. The roof of the house is a walkable, extensive green roof. The load-bearing structure chosen includes Porotherm masonry combined with a strip foundation and an exposed reinforced concrete ceiling construction.
