This family house is located in Vrané nad Vltavou, on a newly parceled plot within a small-town villa development, approximately 15 km south of Prague’s broader city center.
The dominant landscape feature is the proximity to the Vltava River, which shapes not only the local microclimate but also the overall character of the valley.
The architectural design is based on a composition of two primary cuboid volumes arranged to form the shape of an “L”.
This configuration defines the relationship between the house and the plot and also determines how the house is used. The “L” shape allowed the house to be ideally separated from the street while maximizing the private, usable garden space—shielded from the driveway.
The main residential volume is a two-story building with a gabled roof.
Some areas include an attic, while others are opened all the way to the roof structure, allowing for a generously spacious living room.
The western orientation maximizes natural lighting, resulting in:
a bright, airy interior,
seamless indoor-outdoor connection,
a harmonious atmosphere responding to daily rhythms.
The layout emphasizes:
fluid movement throughout the space,
functional logic,
intuitive links between interior and garden.
The second volume serves as a utility space featuring a garage, workshop, and gym.
Thanks to large sliding glass doors (HS portal), this structure opens directly onto the garden. The gym and rehabilitation room are designed not only for private use but also for work with the owners’ personal clients—they are professionals in physiotherapy and fitness.
The garden is an integral part of the project—visually and functionally.
Its central feature is a natural swimming pond, surrounded by a spacious wooden deck intended for rest, gatherings, and exercise.
The exterior is characterized by a combination of white plaster, natural wood cladding, and a grey galvanized roof.
This material language continues inside the house, where white surfaces, light wood, and soft cream tones dominate.
The house draws inspiration from Japanese aesthetics—emphasizing simplicity, calm, and harmonious integration with nature.
