In the recreational summer area of Hostivař Reservoir, three separate buildings were gradually constructed between 2016 and 2018. The investor’s goal was to improve the comfort of visitors to the area while designing structures that could be mobile if needed and preferably built from recycled steel frames. In the first phase, the design focused on establishing new facilities for water sports, located near the wake park cableway.
A shipping container frame was chosen as the primary structure, which was then enveloped in a wooden construction. Siberian larch in its natural finish was used as the facade element, designed to age naturally over time. The interior was constructed using lacquered OSB panels. Due to the proximity to the water and fluctuating water levels, the building was supported by steel ground screws. The idea was to create a structure that would have a timeless appearance while blending in with the materials and design of the surrounding area. Following the completion of the water sports facilities and positive feedback from the investor, the design for a new catering facility for visitors was developed. This resulted in the creation of two buildings.
The larger building is divided into three adjacent rental kiosks. Steel frames from unimobile units served as the load-bearing structure for this building, which was then clad in a manner consistent with the first structure. The construction is also supported by steel ground screws. The smallest kiosk was built on the site of an existing elevated wooden terrace, which was also fully reconstructed during the project. This kiosk is designed as a wooden structure with load-bearing KVH beams and is founded on a concrete slab. Currently, it houses a café.
