Based on the inspection, the current condition was evaluated as technically satisfactory but not meeting the current residential standards required by the investor. Changes in the layout, opening the house to the garden, extension, and raising of the roof were implemented to enable the full utilization of both floors of the house. The first phase of modifications was designed with the possibility of further expansion in the second phase.
The basic concept is based on multiple volumes complementing the existing structure both functionally and visually. The upper volumes of the bay windows expand the spaces of the bathroom and bedroom and complement the volume of the raised roof and the living room, which protrudes towards the garden. The living room extends to the rear of the house through a dark fascia, connecting the front facade of the house with the rear terrace. The new layout of the ground floor connects the open kitchen with the living room.
The living room makes the house accessible through HS portals and is divided into seating, dining, and reading areas. Extensive glazing brings in natural light and offers views of the beautiful landscape. Wood predominates as the main material, connecting the interior with the exterior and the surroundings of the house. It is complemented by dark elements in the kitchen and exposed concrete, which adds a modern look to the design. The ground floor also features a bathroom and the original staircase. On the first floor, the bay windows allow for efficient use of the bedroom with a dressing room and a study.
The basement will serve as the technical area of the house and for wine storage. The exterior material solution is mainly in a neutral light color combined with dark surfaces to highlight selected elements, and wood is used to blend the house better with its surroundings. To improve illumination, new windows were added to the kitchen, living room, and staircase. A covered main entrance and a front terrace seamlessly transitioning into the garden were designed.
