Prague – Kunratice, Dřevnická Street
The project presents an architectural study for four family houses – two detached structures and one semi-detached house. All houses share the same functional and volumetric concept, forming a unified ensemble with a clear compositional logic.
The design is based on a two-storey residential volume with a flat roof. Inserted into this composition is the garage volume with a raised addition housing a study. The principle of layering simple rectangular volumes becomes the defining motif of the entire design, emphasizing the legibility of individual volumes.
The garage entrance and the main entrance to the house both face Dřevnická Street. The ground floor accommodates a double garage, an entrance foyer, and an open-plan living area connecting the kitchen, dining, and living zones. This space flows naturally onto the terrace and garden, creating a seamless transition between interior and exterior.
The first floor is reserved for the private areas of the house. It contains a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, two children’s rooms with a shared bathroom, and a study above the garage, also with its own bathroom.
All buildings have a full basement. The lower level houses utility rooms including a laundry room with a linen chute from the centre of the floor plan, storage spaces, a wine cellar, a wellness area with bathroom, a gym, and a recreation room with a billiards table and bar.
The material palette reinforces the principle of layered volumes. The ground floor is clad in light travertine, forming a solid base for the house. The first floor is finished in white plaster with dark bands between the window openings, tying them together horizontally into a unified whole. The addition above the garage is clad in a reflective material, designed to visually reduce its presence and preserve the harmony of the overall composition.
